West Ham United could soon look to land a marquee signing after a quiet summer transfer window so far, with a former Tottenham Hotspur player emerging as a serious target.
The Hammers have endured a difficult few months following relegation from the Premier League and are still yet to make the kind of eye-catching signing many supporters have been hoping for ahead of their Championship campaign.
Instead, much of the window has been dominated by departures.
West Ham have cashed in on two of their biggest assets, with Mateus Fernandes and Crysencio Summerville both moving on to generate significant transfer funds as Nuno Espirito Santo looks to reshape his squad.
Despite those big-money sales, the club are still waiting to splash the cash in attack as they look to build a side capable of securing an immediate return to the top flight. That could now be about to change.
West Ham keen on AZ Alkmaar striker Troy Parrott
According to Sky Sports News reporters Dharmesh Sheth and Chris Reidy, West Ham are interested in signing Troy Parrott from AZ Alkmaar.
The Republic of Ireland international has also attracted enquiries from the likes of Ajax and Real Betis, however, he still has three years remaining on his current contract in the Netherlands.
Parrott is heading into the 2026/27 season in outstanding form. The 24-year-old enjoyed a prolific Eredivisie campaign, scoring 16 league goals in just 28 appearances last season after also impressing during his first year at AZ.
Since joining from Spurs in 2024, he has developed into one of the Dutch league’s most clinical forwards. His profile would make him an exciting addition to West Ham’s frontline, and a partnership with Jarrod Bowen could be particularly exciting.

Parrott, called an “unbelievable player” and “the hottest thing at the minute in European football” last season by Shelbourne’s Paddy Barrett, has evolved into a mobile, intelligent striker who thrives running in behind defenders but is equally capable of linking play and bringing teammates into action.
His movement inside the penalty area and clinical finishing could work extremely well with Bowen’s creativity and crossing ability from the right would.
The Irishman could also create more space for West Ham’s captain by constantly stretching opposition defences, and with Bowen carrying much of the attacking output on his shoulders in recent seasons, Parrott could provide the consistent goalscorer the Hammers have lacked.
Competition for his signature looks set to be fierce, and it remains to be seen what sort of price tag he would cost, but after raising substantial funds through player sales, West Ham have the opportunity to make a statement signing.
Nuno could finally have the prolific striker needed in Parrott to spearhead the club’s promotion push back to the Premier League, making this one to watch.
