Antavion Allen committed to Ole Miss on Tuesday, keeping one of Mississippi’s top prospects in the 2028 class close to home.
Allen, a four-star defensive tackle from Hattiesburg, chose the Rebels over a couple dozen other schools including fellow finalists LSU and Alabama. The 6-foot-4, 289-pound lineman is the 92nd overall player in the class.
One of the reasons why Allen committed to Ole Miss was the communication level between him and the staff, with Allen appreciative that they talked legitimately every day during the open window.
“I’m close to them,” Allen said.
Literally and figuratively, with Hattiesburg roughly four hours from Ole Miss’ campus. This continues a trend of Ole Miss keeping top talent from the state as the Rebels secured pledges from three of Mississippi’s top four prospects in the 2027 cycle: DL Mitchell Turner (94 grade), DL Ben’Jarvius Shumaker (93 grade), and iOL Antonio Berry (91 grade).
Allen is currently the No. 2 player in Mississippi for the 2028 cycle, behind only DL Geraci Carson out of Jackson Lanier.
Last season, Allen had 18.5 sacks and his goal is to surpass that total while getting to returning to the state championship game.
“We went to state last year, we lost. This year, I want to be 10 times better,” Allen said.
Allen becomes the second member of Ole Miss’ 2028 class, joining fellow Mississippi product and three-star wide receiver Latedrick Mallard.
