Ahead of the 2025 season, the Clemson Tigers were expected to be competing for another ACC Championship and a possible spot in the College Football Playoff.

A disappointing loss in Week 1 against the LSU Tigers set the tone for the season and Clemson ultimately finished the year 7-6 with a loss to Penn State in the Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl.

Now, ahead of 2026, head coach Dabo Swinney gave a blunt outlook of his team with the season rapidly approaching.

“A bunch of nobodies”

Sweeney was asked Wednesday if any players had stood out and made themselves known in fall camp. Sweeney’s response answered the question honestly, but also bluntly.

Everybody’s just working. We’re just a bunch of nobodies,” Sweeney said. “We’ll see if anybody becomes somebody as we play some games.”

Clemson was recently ranked No. 23 in the preseason Coaches’ Poll. That ranking was the fourth highest among ACC teams.
