Ian Machado Garry believes the tide is already turning in his favour before the biggest fight of his career.
Garry is scheduled to challenge welterweight champion Islam Makhachev this weekend in the main event of UFC 330.
On fight week, during their first face-off, the Irishman says he sensed a “nervous” energy from the P4P king.
On media day, discussing the same, “The Future” said:
“I just kind of felt like yesterday he [Islam Makhachev] didn’t wanna be there. He didn’t want to be at the faceoff. I sensed a little bit of nervous energy from him.”

Islam Makhachev says he was relaxed, not nervous, during faceoff
Islam Makhachev has reacted to Ian Machado Garry’s aforementioned comments that Makhachev looked nervous during the faceoff earlier this week and did not want to be there. On media day, Makhachev said this is the second time during fight week he’s had so much fun, and that he was not nervous at all during the faceoff.
“I don’t know how he felt I was nervous. I don’t see anything in [Ian Machado Garry’s] eyes. I just see his eyes, and I am not nervous [at all].”
Since Makhachev moved up to welterweight, he’s admitted he feels more relaxed during fight week because he no longer has to stress about cutting weight.

The Dagestani wrestling maestro also added during the media day sitdown that he will quickly humble ‘bad boy Ian Garry at UFC 330.’ He quipped:
“I like Ian; he is very good as a fighter, but he just talks too much. When he talks to the media, he acts like a ‘bad boy,’ but Saturday night we will make sure that we humble him quickly.” [h/t: Home of Fight]

While Garry plans to show three rounds of pure dominance against Makhachev this weekend at UFC 330 and then go for the final kill in the fourth stanza, Makhachev is ready to crush the Dubliner’s prediction by finishing the fight within three rounds.
