Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels captivated the NFL world in 2024 when he burst onto the scene and led Washington to the NFC Championship Game as a rookie.
Injuries derailed his 2025 season, and Daniels has worked his way back to be at full strength for his third NFL season.
Meanwhile, a report from ESPN late Wednesday showcased bad blood between Daniels and his alma mater, the LSU Tigers.

According to ESPN’s Mark Schlabach, an attorney that represents Daniels informed the university that it can no longer use Daniels’ name, image and likeness.
Schlabach revealed that the center of the dispute revolves around LSU allowing cornerback DJ Pickett to wear No. 5 this season, the same number Daniels wore during his Heisman Trophy winning season.
“The Daniels family is deeply disappointed and feels profoundly disrespected by LSU’s decision to give Jayden’s number to another player,” the statement from Daniels’ spokesperson said. “Jayden and his family had every reason to believe that his number would remain a meaningful part of his LSU legacy and would be honored and protected in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to the university.”
