19 year-old reaches agreement to leave Tottenham with bid made for replacement

Tottenham‘s summer has been defined by their pursuit of wide attacking reinforcements, and the search shows no sign of slowing down.

Spurs have long been credited with interest in Savinho, with the Manchester City winger said to have reiterated his desire to make the move to north London, even to the point of missing training at the Etihad as he pushes for an exit.

The Brazil winger barely featured under Pep Guardiola last season and is not expected to be a key part of Enzo Maresca’s plans either, though that hasn’t stopped City from placing a massive price tag on his head, rumoured to be in the region of £85m.

That’s not the only name on the list. Tottenham have also been strongly linked with Andreas Schjelderup, with a bid understood to have already been tabled for a player who starred for Norway at the World Cup. Benfica are working to offer the winger a new contract to ward off the interest in him however, having also been tipped for a future at Real Madrid.

Then there’s Cody Gakpo, with Tottenham having lodged an opening offer for the Liverpool forward. The Dutchman scored nine times and registered six assists at Anfield last season, a considerable drop from the 18 goals and seven assists he chipping in with a year prior, and with Liverpool in discussions to sign Bradley Barcola there is a feeling Gakpo is up for sale.

It’s not just arrivals shaping Tottenham’s summer, though. Cristian Romero’s exit to Atletico Madrid has already been confirmed, and Djed Spence looks set to follow him out the door before deadline day, having agreed terms over a move to Inter.

Now, that list of departures looks ready to add another name – with Spurs believed to have reached an agreement with 1. FC Köln over a loan move for Mikey Moore. The latest report comes from Germany (via Sport Witness), and the Bundesliga club are also closing in on a deal for Bologna forward Thijs Dallinga as part of the same swoop to strengthen their attack.

A medical is understood to be the only remaining step before Moore’s move is confirmed, though Tottenham are yet to give the green light for him to undergo it. Spurs want their own incoming winger sorted before they let Moore go out the door, leaving the announcement hanging while the two operations are lined up in tandem.

And on that front, there’s genuine encouragement. The same report claims Gakpo is understood to have an agreement in principle in place with Tottenham, with Spurs having tabled a bid worth £60m to Liverpool. If that one gets over the line, it would immediately clear the path for Moore’s exit to be rubber-stamped.

For Moore himself, this feels like the right moment for a temporary change of scenery. The 19-year-old spent last season out on loan at Rangers, where he chipped in with seven goals and four assists across 47 appearances – solid numbers for a teenager still finding his feet in senior football, and evidence he can handle regular first-team minutes away from the pressure of Tottenham’s first-team squad.

A move to the Bundesliga would represent another step up in that development, dropping him into one of the big five European leagues at a club expected to be fighting for their survival having finished 14th last year.

For a player of his age, that kind of exposure – different physicality, different tactical demands – is exactly the sort of experience that can accelerate a young winger’s progress, rather than leaving him stuck on the fringes at Spurs, especially if Gakpo arrives to further crowd the pecking order.
