How Leeds can complete their attack with late signing

After the summer business conducted at Elland Road, coupled with the 100% record at the start of the 2026/27 campaign, it’s hard for Leeds United fans to not get excited about the possibility of this season.

Daniel Farke’s side have injected key quality into needed areas of the senior squad, which has already seen them beat Nottingham Forest twice – keeping a clean sheet in both outings.

Their defensive solidity played a huge role in the Premier League survival last term, but the additions of James Trafford and Tarik Muharemovic have only improved the options available to Farke in that area.

However, it’s now down to one other summer addition to provide the goods at the opposite end of the pitch, with the fanbase hoping he emulates his impressive form from before his arrival in Yorkshire.

Why Wilson could make Leeds unstoppable in 2026/27

After multiple failed attempts at securing his signature, Leeds finally managed to complete the signing of attacker Harry Wilson after his departure from Fulham.

The Welsh international has been of huge interest from the Whites in the past and understandably so, given his tally of 17 combined goals and assists in the Premier League last time around.

The 29-year-old has penned a four-year deal at Elland Road, with Farke hoping that the forward can play a vital role in his system over the 2026/27 campaign and beyond.

He did start the opening day victory over Forest, and whilst he didn’t get on the scoresheet, his stats from such an encounter showcase why he could be a vital asset for the Whites.

Wilson featured for just 66 minutes of the win in the East Midlands, but still managed to create two chances for his teammates, whilst completing 50% of the dribbles he attempted.

The attacker also completed 100% of his long-ball attempts, whilst making four passes into the final third – undoubtedly allowing him to tee up the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Whilst it’s still early days into his career in Yorkshire, he’s already shown glimpses of his quality – but the supporters will be hoping he can now deliver on a consistent basis.

Why Leeds’ latest target would cause chaos with Wilson

Despite the arrival of Wilson earlier this summer, the Leeds hierarchy are still on the hunt for added reinforcements in such an area of the pitch before the window slams shut.

Chelsea outcast Mykhailo Mudryk has appeared on the club’s shortlist as of late, with Farke’s men already making an offer to land the Ukrainian on loan for the rest of the season.

He’s not the only attacker to be of interest at present, with £22m RB Leipzig striker Conrad Harder now emerging as a key transfer target ahead of Tuesday’s deadline.

It’s been reported by Corriere della Sera in Italy that the Whites have leapfrogged Lazio and are now currently at the front of the queue for his signature with ‘advanced talks ongoing’.

The report also states that the Bundesliga side would be willing to cash in on one Dane this summer, with Leeds said to be open to securing a loan deal with an option to buy.

It’s unclear whether such an offer would be accepted this window, but it could present a perfect opportunity for the Whites to secure a top-level attacking option.

Any move for Harder could see him form an excellent partnership with Wilson within the final third – which could help Leeds in their ambitions of becoming an established top-flight outfit.

Wilson demonstrated on his league debut that he’s capable of creating opportunities for those ahead of him, with the 21-year-old Leipzig talent able to put the finishing touches on such chances.

Harder managed to achieve a 40% shot-on-target accuracy rate last term, whilst averaging an impressive tally of 1.3 shots on target per 90 in the Bundesliga.

The latter of the aforementioned figures ranked him in the top 25% of centre-forwards in Europe, showcasing his ability to trouble the ‘keeper with his efforts.

He did only manage to find the net three times last season, but he did manage to achieve an xG of 5.1 – which suggests the opposition shot-stopper often prevented him from finding the net more.

Despite being a striker, he would be able to provide chances for Wilson too, as Harder managed to lay on 1.4 chances per 90 last term – also placing him above 75% of players in his position – backing up one claim that he’s a “phenomenal” talent.

Such numbers could see the aforementioned players create a deadly partnership in the final third, which could see the Whites become a bigger force to be reckoned with.

With just five days left to go in the summer window, the Leeds hierarchy will have to work tirelessly to get a deal for the Danish international across the line.

Any move would be a phenomenal piece of business, with the 21-year-old able to prove that he’s capable of leading the line and developing into a top-level attacking option for Farke’s men.
