With just five Premiership games remaining of the season, it’s now clear who Glasgow Rangers boss Danny Rohl is ready to rely on, as well as those who look to have no future at Ibrox heading into the summer.
The German has already shown something of a ruthless streak after signing off on the swift sale of Joe Rothwell in January, having also since banished on-loan defender, Derek Cornelius, to the youth ranks, amid the Canadian’s return from injury.
In just 35 games in charge, the former Sheffield Wednesday boss has already used 32 players in Glasgow, albeit with recent weeks and months seeing the 36-year-old settle on a consistent core of players for the run-in.

Among those who are on loan, out on loan or merely on the periphery, there could be a raft of departures from Ibrox ahead of next season, with it increasingly difficult to think of too many who are guaranteed to stay at the club for 2026/27.
Rangers preparing for seismic summer overhaul under Danny Rohl
From back to front, there are so many uncertain futures at Rangers, the most notable talking point still that of James Tavernier, with the long-serving skipper revealing this week that he hasn’t received a fresh contract offer from the club hierarchy.
Sticking with the full-back ranks, both Jayden Meghoma and Max Aarons are likely to return to their parent clubs, while questions may need to be asked of Dujon Sterling, considering he has made just 13 appearances this season and with his contract set to expire in 2027.
At centre-back, meanwhile, Nasser Djiga could well be part of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ promotion push next season, the aforementioned Cornelius will be returning to Marseille and summer signing Emmanuel Fernandez is attracting significant interest from the likes of Arsenal.
As for the midfield unit, there were previously claims that Nico Raskin was seeking a move away, prior to this latest purple patch, while Jose Cifuentes is set for a permanent exit after spending yet another season out on loan.
The same will also be true for the likes of Danilo, Ben Davies and Oscar Cortes, alongside Leon King, while as for those on loan with the Gers, it remains to be seen whether either Mikey Moore or Andreas Skov Olsen will be on the books for 2026/27.
He wants to leave: £4.5m Rangers dud has become a bigger flop than Danilo
Look away Rangers fans; they’ve found a bigger mistake than Danilo.
The forward line, considering Djeidi Gassama has also been linked with a departure since January, may require significant reinforcement, particularly if further sales are to be sanctioned.
The new Ryan Kent could finally be sold by Rangers
Whether it is a case of a player entering their advancing years, like Tavernier, or a player seeking a fresh start elsewhere, like with Alfredo Morelos or Ryan Kent, every Rangers journey has to end at some stage.
For that trio noted above, they certainly had their moments at Ibrox, memorably part of the side that claimed a 55th league title back in 2021 under Steven Gerrard’s watch.
For others, however, a move to Glasgow simply doesn’t work out as expected, with forgotten man Nedim Bajrami among the recent signings who fall into that category.
The Albanian playmaker had been signed from Sassuolo after impressing for his country at Euro 2024, albeit with much of his best work having come prior to that at Empoli, with 44 goals and assists in 127 games for the Italian side.
At Sassuolo, just eight goal involvements came from his 52 appearances, with that the type of form that he has replicated in Scottish football, registering just 12 goals and assists in 65 games to date.
There have been brief flashes, it must be said, with former Rangers striker Kris Boyd even suggesting early last season that Bajrami had “similar qualities” to Kent, due to his ability to flourish in the pockets and make things happen for his side.
“He creates space for teammates, and dare I say it, brings similar qualities that Ryan Kent had.
“Bajrami looks as though he can bring some much-needed positivity for the fans returning to Ibrox.”
Frustratingly, injury has largely been the story of his last two seasons, having only made three Premiership starts in 2025/26, scoring once and registering only one assist from 12 total outings.
In all competitions, the 27-year-old hasn’t actually started at all this calendar year, his last start seeing him forced off with injury inside 21 minutes against Kilmarnock back in December.
His last 90 minutes had come against Dundee United in the game prior, the midfielder netting from the penalty spot in that 2-2 draw.
Rohl had selected a front line of Bajrami on the left, Gassama on the right, and Danilo supporting Bojan Miovski for that trip to Tannadice, a quartet that now appears unthinkable just a matter of months on.
Danilo has already been shipped out on loan, while Bajrami’s own Ibrox stay looks to be coming to an end, with Football Insider reporting that Rohl has already decided that the Albanian will be ‘sacrificed’ this summer.
Hopes were high for the Zurich-born talent upon his move to Glasgow, yet an exit now appears an inevitability after another forgettable season.
His value has risen £7.8m at Ibrox: Rangers have struck gold on Sakala 2.0
Rangers look to have hit the jackpot with this star who is emerging as the new Fashion Sakala at Ibrox.
