Leeds United are now racing Premier League rivals to sign Troy Parrott this summer, with the impressive AZ Alkmaar forward coming off the back of a 31-goal season.
Leeds storm into race for Troy Parrott
It’s a massive summer for Leeds. Just 12 months since the 49ers backed Daniel Farke with the likes of Anton Stach, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor, they need to take full advantage of the club’s safety and splash the cash even further.
Farke has certainly delivered his end of the bargain, and reports suggest that the American owners are ready to reward their manager as a result.
He’s like Ampadu: Leeds could see £20m bid accepted to sign the Championship’s POTY
Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing a star who would be like Ethan Ampadu for Daniel Farke.
On that front, it seems as though the focus is once again on the frontline, with a Premier League return potentially on the cards for one player.
According to Soccer News in the Netherlands, Leeds have stormed into the race to sign Parrott from AZ Alkmaar this summer and hold interest in the impressive forward.
The Republic of Ireland international has been in excellent form all season, scoring 31 goals in all competitions. A return to English football is, therefore, possible even if the forward is keeping his cards close to his chest regarding his future.
“If this was the last game, I have had the best two years of my life. The club has ensured that I could make progress. It is important for me to take the next step in my career and to play at the highest level. No, I don’t. I have no wishes and no dreams regarding my next destination.” (Parrott on his future)
The idea of a strike partnership between Calvert-Lewin and Parrott is enough to excite those at Elland Road. Whether Leeds can convince the former Tottenham star to arrive this summer remains to be seen, however.
31-goal Parrott would complete Leeds attack
It’s no secret that Farke wasn’t best pleased with his attacking options last summer. That looked clear in January when Leeds signed Facundo Buonanotte on loan, before that deal failed to work out for any party. And although survival has been secured, Farke may be the first to tell the 49ers that their work isn’t done.
The Leeds boss will be desperate to kick on beyond the relegation battle from here and signing Parrott, who is an “unbelievable player” in the view of Irish defender Paddy Barrett, should be among the club’s top priorities if that want to match those ambitions this summer.

If those at Elland Road can form a partnership capable of scoring 30 league goals between them, then they will have one of the best frontlines outside of the top six in the Premier League. Farke, meanwhile, would finally be satisfied.
If Parrott is available for the right price this summer, then it should simply be a no-brainer. He’s got an unfinished story in the Premier League and Leeds should do everything to fend off interest from rivals to help the forward rewrite what was once a disappointing chapter in his career.
