No. 14 Katy has steamrolled through the Conference 6A Division 2 playoffs in Texas with wins over Clear Creek, Memorial, George Ranch and nationally-ranked Kingwood. Now the Tigers battle Pharr-San Juan-Alamo (San Juan) in a best-of-three series beginning tonight with a trip to the state championship on the line.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo (38-1) is ranked No. 49 in our expanded top 50 and have allowed a combined 40 runs all season.

Katy has hit 94 home runs this season and is led by Auburn commit Evie Willemssen. The junior has 26 home runs this season including three multi-home run games.

Senior E.K. Smith is second on the team with 20 bombs, including two in a playoff win over Clear Creek. The Oklahoma signee is also a dominant pitcher with a 1.49 ERA and 11-1 record. In 61 innings, Smith has 111 strikeouts.

Fellow senior Maddie Smith is also in double-digits with 16 bombs. In total, 11 different Tigers have blasted at least one home run this season.

Led by junior Emma Escamilla, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo has topped Hanna, Steele, Vista Ridge and Dripping Springs in the postseason. Headed to Arizona State, Escamilla does it all for the Bears. In the circle she has a 19-0 record with a 0.78 ERA. As a hitter she has crushed 17 home runs to go with a .587 batting average.
