247Sports’ updated rankings for the national class of 2027 are officially here. With a little more than five months and half of a grassroots season in the books since our previous update, this cycle produced significant movement from top to bottom. As always, those changes were the result of countless hours of evaluation, discussion and healthy debate among our national analysts before arriving at the final list.
Now that the rankings have been released, each member of our team breaks down the biggest takeaways from the update, including the moves we liked most, prospects we believe are still flying under the radar, players we expect to keep climbing and more.
WHICH MOVE IN THIS UPDATE DO YOU FEEL STRONGEST ABOUT AND WHY?
“I am a big believer in Darius Wabbington, particularly after his recent USA Basketball experience. When you have that type of basketball IQ, I just think it allows him to overcome the athletic limitations he may have. There’s also a pretty clear precedent of players from that archetype having a higher upside than many may have thought.” — Adam Finkelstein, 247Sports director of scouting
“Honestly, the move I feel the strongest about is one we ended up only making a minor tweak with. Rather than drop CJ Rosser a few spots, we ended up just dropping him one spot to No. 3 overall. Frankly, a bigger drop would have been more than justified based on his play in Nike’s EYBL. I’ve had a few people tell me I’ve been too critical of his play because I’ve pointed out that despite playing alongside another five-star prospect in King Gibson, Rosser and Team United are only 4-7 in league play. And he’s made just 35.9% of his shots from the field and only 15.5% from 3.
“But — and this is a big but — I firmly believe he may be the most naturally gifted player in the class of 2027, and I believe he’s on the precipice of getting it all figured out.
“He moves effortlessly for a 6-foot-10 kid, has length — you name the physical tool, he’s got it. I just finished watching him at USA Basketball’s U17 team trials where he was much more active on the glass, wasn’t settling for deep jumpers and was playing to his strengths. He looked like a guy who could legitimately challenge for the top spot in the rankings. However, it’s up to him to become more consistent in game action because if the month of July goes the way his past few months have, it would be hard to justify keeping him so high.” — Eric Bossi, 247Sports national basketball director
“The person I felt the strongest about in their leap in this update was Kager Knueppel, the younger brother of Kon Knueppel. He’s having a great spring with Team Herro on the Nike EYBL Circuit after filling out and hitting his growth spurt. Now pushing 6-foot-10, he has great positional size and, while he isn’t a great athlete, he is a high IQ and skilled basketball player that is the best shooter in the class. He not only produces at a high level but is extremely efficient in the process. Different player than Kon, but similar trait in his shotmaking and extreme efficiency.” — Travis Branham, 247Sports national recruiting analyst
“It’s only a slight move, but every change at the top of the rankings is magnified. Beckham Black moving from Nos. 3 to 2 is one I’m particularly passionate about because I believed he could’ve held that spot in our previous update. He’s as true of a point guard as they come and plays the game with a sky high basketball IQ.
“Since the start of the spring, he has been effortlessly dominant, consistently controlling games while making everyone around him better. At this point, there’s no question he has a legitimate chance to challenge for the No. 1 spot moving forward.” — Brandon Jenkins, 247Sports national recruiting analyst
“Ahmed Nur in the top 30 is a move I feel strongly about and wouldn’t be surprised if he keeps trending up. At 6-foot-9, there’s not many prospects in the class with his level of shooting, shotmaking, length and athleticism. After winning NBPA Top 100 MVP and continuing to trend upward, this move makes the most sense.” — Dushawn London, 247Sports national recruiting analyst
WHICH PLAYER DO YOU FEEL HELPED THEMSELVES THE MOST OVER THE COURSE OF THE PAST FEW MONTHS?

“Terence Jones wasn’t really in the conversation to be ranked before the spring, but he’s made a big impression in recent months. He’s put up huge numbers, been impactful on both sides of the ball and shown a contagious motor. Essentially, he made it so that he had to be ranked.” — Finkelstein
“This one is pretty easy for me because he’s from the Kansas City area where I live. After seeing him last weekend at the Midwest Showcase with his Lee’s Summit (Mo.) High team, I’m pretty blown away with the progress that Keller Daugherty has made over the past few months. When I saw him during the high school season I was pretty sure that he would start to get heavy mid-major interest due to his combination of size, fluidity and skill. However, he’s now grown to nearly 6-foot-10 in bare feet, bulked up to 215-pounds, and the evolution and improvement of his all-around game has moved at a much faster pace than I could have expected. I can see why Iowa made sure to lock him up early, and he’s earned his No. 109 national ranking.” — Bossi
“The player that has helped themselves the most over the past few months to me is Asa Montgomery. He emerged last summer and has been putting the work in off the court that is translating well on the court these days. He’s become more skilled, versatile and athletic, which has contributed to him being the top scorer on the EYBL while being an impact rebounder simultaneously.” — Branham
