The only way is up for Tottenham Hotspur next season, with the ENIC regime not hanging around in their bid to ensure there is no repeat of a wretched last two years at Premier League level.
Daniel Levy may be a reported critic from afar, but it’s difficult to argue with the signings of Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke, all for a total sum of around £52m.
By all accounts, that will be merely the start of a summer spree for new boss Roberto De Zerbi, the Italian no stranger to overseeing a succession of incomings, having used 49 different players across just 69 games in charge back at Marseille.
There is one common thread to their moves so far, however, and that’s Premier League experience, with further deals in that regard seemingly in the works.
Spurs in club-to-club talks to sign £50m Premier League star
The major talking point right now remains that of Tottenham’s surprise move for Newcastle United midfielder, Sandro Tonali, albeit with that pursuit potentially set to hit the skids as Manchester City have now entered the race for the Italy star.
Speaking of City, the Lilywhites appear to still be in negotiations with the Etihad side regarding a move for Brazilian winger, Savinho, the former Girona man having first emerged as a target a year ago.
The suggestion is that he could well be up for grabs for a fee of around £60m, having made the move to Manchester for a fee closer to £30m back in the summer of 2024.
Strengthening on the flanks does appear to be a priority for ENIC heading into next term, with TEAMtalk also reporting that the north London side have made a first move to sign West Ham United star, Crysencio Summerville.
As per the report, Spurs could be battling it out with Manchester United for the Dutchman’s signature, having already held club-to-club talks with the Hammers.
The suggestion is that the former Leeds United will be available for £50m, with an exit seemingly on the cards following the east London side’s recent relegation.
How Summerville compared to Savinho in 2025/26
Injury was, undoubtedly, a significant issue as the season dragged on at N17, although the Lilywhites did appear to leave themselves somewhat short on the flanks, with Heung-min Son departing for Los Angeles, while Brennan Johnson was sold off to Crystal Palace in January.
With Mohammed Kudus and Wilson Odobert both sidelined, as too was Dejan Kulusevski, De Zerbi was forced into persisting with Mathys Tel and Randal Kolo Muani on the flanks, with Pedro Porro also pushed into a more advanced role down the right on occasion.
Kolo Muani ended the campaign with just a solitary league goal, while Tel scored just four times, highlighting the need for a significant upgrade.

Whether Savinho would truly provide that is up for debate, the South American speedster scoring and assisting just two goals all season in 2025/26 in the Premier League, a dismal return even while having started only seven games.
The left-footer also notably failed to create a single ‘big chance’ last season, a stark decline on the 2024/25 campaign, in which he recorded eight assists and created 11 ‘big chances’ for Pep Guardiola’s side.
He’s not a man in a rich vein of form, while Summerville, by contrast, appears to be enjoying a strong 2026, having scored all five of his league goals last season this calendar year.
A shining light in a grim campaign at the London Stadium, the 24-year-old scored and assisted seven goals in total in the top-flight, while boasting four ‘big chances’ created.
He also proved far superior to Savinho in terms of key passes per game (0.9 vs 0.4), as well as for successful dribbles per game (1.6 vs 0.7), further evidence of just what an astute signing he would be.
Indeed, there’s a game-changing, match-winning quality to Summerville’s game that is to be admired, so explosive and direct on either flank, as he showed only recently for his country.
The right-footer curled home in stunning fashion as the Netherlands were held to a 2-2 draw with Japan over the weekend, cutting in onto his weaker left and bending it into the far corner.
That was a reminder of the player who also previously dazzled in the Championship back in 2023/24, having recorded 28 goals and assists for Leeds that season, prior to sealing his move to the capital.
Another switch across London could now be on the cards if Spurs and De Zerbi get there way, with Summerville seemingly the man to prioritise ahead of signing Savinho.
