Everton make offer to sign versatile attacker for David Moyes as club reply

Everton continue to assess many attacking options as their summer recruitment plans take shape.

The club have been linked with a number of forwards and wide players in recent weeks as David Moyes looks to add more competition in the final third.

One of the names to emerge on Everton’s radar has been Levante striker Etta Eyong.

Reports suggest the Toffees have made contact over a possible deal for the highly-rated forward, but Ipswich Town are currently pushing hardest for Eyong and have already opened talks as they attempt to move ahead in the race for his signature.

Everton have also been tipped to re-sign Tyrique George on a permanent deal if they can reach a full agreement with Chelsea, while there also remains hope that Jack Grealish could extend his stay at the Hill Dickinson Stadium too.

That process has now led them towards Serie A.

According to reports from Italy, Torino winger Alieu Njie has become a player of serious interest to the Merseyside club.

The Sweden Under-21 international is attracting attention after a breakthrough period in Italy, and is highly-rated by those in Turin.

Tuttosport report that Everton have informed Torino they are prepared to make a significant offer for the attacker.

They state that the Premier League side are willing to pay a fee in the region of £9 million to secure his services, and that figure would represent a substantial investment in a player who remains at an early stage of his career.

However, Torino have made clear they are currently seeking a higher amount.

The Italian club are understood to value Njie closer to the £13 million mark, so as things stand, that gap remains one of the key issues in discussions.

The report suggests Everton are the only club currently prepared to make a concrete move for the player, though, which gives Moyes’ side a clear run at his signature.

While other teams have monitored his development, no rival side is believed to have advanced their interest to the same level.

Njie has attracted attention because of his pace and versatility across the front line. The winger is capable of playing on either flank and has also been used in more advanced attacking roles.

As a result, Everton may need to increase their offer if they want to secure an agreement.

The 21-year-old is regarded as one of the more promising young Swedish attackers currently playing abroad, and his progress in Italy has not gone unnoticed as Torino believe his value could continue to rise in the coming years.

That belief helps explain why the club are holding firm over their asking price.
