Manchester United are now in contact with a World Cup star, who has already given the go-ahead for his agent to work on a departure this summer.
The Red Devils are still in the market for a number of reinforcements in the coming months, with the focus very much set on adding to Michael Carrick‘s midfield.
Ederson’s arrival is a start, but just that. Beyond the Brazilian, those at Old Trafford are also still targeting Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.
None of those stars will come cheap, though. Anderson is likely to cost a British record, with Nottingham Forest demanding around £120m. Meanwhile, Newcastle United just rejected Tottenham Hotspur’s £80m offer to sign Tonali and United will need to at least better that bid to stand a chance at landing the Italian’s signature.
Real Madrid worried Man Utd are about to hijack Jose Mourinho’s top target
The Red Devils are willing to pay big money.
Then there’s Fernandes. Even in the Championship, West Ham United are demanding as much as £85m for their star. In the summer of midfield movement, it looks like it’s either spend big or shop outside of the Premier League for the likes of Man United.
The good news there is that the World Cup is proving to be quite the platform for a far cheaper alternative, who the Red Devils are already in talks to sign.

Man Utd hold talks to sign World Cup star
The World Cup is the place to become a breakout star. It’s resulted in big moves for the likes of James Rodriguez and, as those at Old Trafford know, Sofyan Amrabat in the past, and could now do the same for Felix Nmecha.
According to TeamTalk, Man United have held talks with Nmecha’s representatives and his camp have already green-lit a summer move away from Borussia Dortmund this summer.
The Bundesliga giants have also already named their price, with reports suggesting that they could accept just £52m to sell the midfielder in the coming months.
That’s a major boost for Man United, given the current price of other targets in that area, and they could yet get one over on Manchester City in the process.
It wasn’t so long ago that Nmecha was graduating from Man City’s academy, only to find his feet elsewhere and earn the attention of their biggest rivals. Dubbed “world-class” by Julian Nagelsmann and thriving at the World Cup with Germany, the 25-year-old is undoubtedly one to watch this summer.
