Ian Machado Garry is oozing with confidence and has already declared himself a future champion. The Irishman will return to the octagon at UFC 330 on August 15 to challenge welterweight champion and P4P king Islam Makhachev.
Garry believes Makhachev doesn’t have many weaknesses, but has never faced anyone as tall, long, and fast as him. And come fight night, when the octagon door shuts, “The Future” wants to prove to the world that the Dagestani wrestling maestro can’t submit him or dominate him on the ground. He has already warned Makhachev, saying:
“I am going to bounce him on his skull, and I am going to take his title and finish that consecutive win streak.”

Ian Machado Garry Blames Islam Makhachev Over Title Fight Delay
During the same sitdown with Ariel Helwani, when Ian Machado Garry was asked to weigh in on what took so long to get the Islam Makhachev fight booked, “The Future” revealed that the UFC brass reached out to him to compete in January, then again in April, and lastly on May 9 at UFC 328, a date that Makhachev turned down.
The Irishman added that, as per his knowledge, the promotion wanted Islam Makhachev to fight Ilia Topuria on June 14, but the Russian fighter turned down the superfight.
Islam Makhachev repeatedly expressed interest in fighting Kamaru Usman, Michael Morales, and Carlos Prates rather than Garry. The Irishman, on the other hand, has been calling out Makhachev nonstop after getting his hand raised at UFC Qatar last year.
However, the UFC has now given the short-notice risk-taker a title shot he rightfully deserves for being a company man and also the top 170-pound contender.
