UFC legend Georges St-Pierre has given his thoughts on the stoppage during Aiemann Zahabi‘s fight against Sean O’Malley.
At UFC Freedom 250, Aiemann Zahabi put forward a great effort in his attempt to overcome and defeat Sean O’Malley. Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite enough, and he was instead stopped during the fight, serving as a huge setback in his push to become UFC bantamweight champion one day.
Aiemann Zahabi had been on a remarkable run of form leading into the O’Malley fight, but someone like ‘Suga’ is always going to pose problems in the striking department. Of course, Zahabi had plenty of help in preparing, which includes leaning on one of the greatest of all time, Georges St-Pierre.
In a recent interview, GSP had the following to say on how everything played out for Aiemann Zahabi at the White House.

They stopped it I think too fast,” he continued. “I think Aiemann could have recovered and Aiemann has a joker in his game if I can use this expression. He’s very good on the floor and he never really uses it.”
“I think with what he had, that was the best game plan but we unfortunately didn’t see all of it because the fight didn’t last until the end,” St-Pierre reflected.

GSP is a close ally of Zahabi’s and it makes sense that he would want to defend him, but it’s really up in the air regarding whether or not this was early, and some would argue it’s a matter of perspective.
We have certainly seen him rally in bad positions before, but when you are dealing with a sharpshooter like O’Malley, it’s understandable to see why the referee stepped in. Now, for Aiemann, it’s about heading back to the drawing board and seeing where he can improve as his push for greatness continues.
On the flip side, we have a version of Sean O’Malley that would appear to be ready and willing to step into a title shot, especially given that he has been pretty active as of late.
