How Andoni Iraola must wish he would start his Liverpool tenure with a prime Mohamed Salah in the mix. Alas, Salah has now left Anfield after nine illustrious years.

The 34-year-old fell by the wayside last season, one part of a much wider malaise that culminated in Arne Slot’s dismissal at the end of the campaign.

Liverpool’s Jekyll-and-Hyde chapter under Slot’s wing must not be repeated, and FSG are certainly pulling out all the stops in the bid to ensure that a page will indeed be turned.

Will Liverpool land their top transfer targets? Perhaps more importantly, will they be more intelligent than last year?

Liverpool submit bid for teenager superstar alongside Diomande

FSG are renowned for their incisive and calculated nature in the transfer market, so why did it all go so wrong last summer? Liverpool’s record-breaking spending spree returned rotten fruit for the Anfield side, who now need to put things to rights and return to form in the Premier League.

Yan Diomande has been chosen as the man to lead the revival. The £100m+ winger has already been the subject of a rejected bid from Liverpool. RB Leipzig do not want to sell, but FSG and sporting director Richard Hughes will continue to push for the “generational” talent, as he has been called by journalist Bence Bocsak.

If Leipzig do continue to reject Liverpool’s advances, and fees associated with Diomande’s signature begin to look ridiculous, then FSG will be prepared to snip the thread and turn toward alternative targets.

And while the likes of Said El Mala, Matias Fernandez-Pardo and Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola are all on the shortlist, say The Athletic, none would be as expensive as Diomande, opening the door for the Reds to sign an up-and-coming star too.

According to a top Georgian football insider, Liverpool have joined Arsenal and PSG in submitting an offer for 17-year-old attacking midfielder Andria Bartishvili, who has the attributes to become a superstar for Iraola.

FC Iberia 1999 talent Bartishvili has superstar potential, and while a figure is as yet uncertain, there’s no question that Liverpool are not going to want to miss out to one of their biggest European rivals for this rising star.

Why Bartishvili can be another Diomande for Liverpool

Bartishvili is not a name you are likely to have stumbled across, but he is one of the most exciting young attackers in football. After all, there is a reason that so many of Europe’s most formidable outfits are lining up for his signature.

Skilled on the ball and versatile enough to play across the frontline, Bartishvili does tend to play from the centre, and in that, he could emerge as the perfect understudy for someone like Florian Wirtz, who will be expected to kick on at Anfield next season.

Liverpool are well stocked in the emerging quality department. Rio Ngumoha, 17, is frighteningly good, and Diomande could further reinforce the club’s desire to compete at the top over the next several years, with Iraola at the helm.

Bartishvili could rival him, with the close control and intelligence on the ball to establish himself as a top-tier dribbler who could challenge the likes of Ngumoha and Diomande for the top spot.

Diomande stands out from his positional peers due to his ability to utilise his pace and timing to a perfect degree. He rarely, if ever, wastes a run, and his relentless output down the flanks allows him to confuse and strike fear into defenders each game.

Bartishvili could echo that, albeit in a different way. FC Iberia in his Georgian homeland have already seen him become a starting regular, and as he has completed 2.3 dribbles and won 5.5 duels on average each game, it’s clear he boasts the natural progression that Diomande also brings to Leipzig and Ivory Coast.

Liverpool want to sign Diomande, a teenage talent who has the skill to become one of the game’s leading forwards. He is already moving with pace down that track.

However, Diomande isn’t the only flashy forward bursting onto the scene, and while deals could be completed for both, Bartishvili’s flair and growing threat in the danger area could allow him to develop into an unplayable attacker, echoing Diomande’s prodigious impact.
