A potentially historic class of big men is taking shape in the 2028 college basketball recruiting cycle. Following the release of 247Sports’ updated 2028 rankings Tuesday, seven center prospects cracked the top 15 overall — the most in more than a decade and more than the last three classes combined.
The class is headlined by La Cañada Flintridge (Calif.) St. Francis big man Yann Kamagate, who jumped to No. 2 in the latest update and is now on pace to become the first center to finish in the top 3 of his class in years.
The nation’s biggest programs have already jumped into the race for the 2028 cycle’s top centers. North Carolina, Kentucky, Kansas, Texas, Tennessee and Alabama are among the schools making early headway for elite big men.
