Bryan Battle has discussed what the mixed martial arts future of former WEC and UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson could look like in the wake of losing his PFL debut in short order. Battle is also fighting for PFL these days and has a looming fight coming up against Dalton Rosta at PFL Charlotte on August 7th.

Benson Henderson was halted with strikes in twenty seconds by Patrick Habirora at PFL Brussels on May 23rd, with some onlookers wondering if the fight should have even been booked in the first place. Battle has a history of working with Benson Henderson at The MMA Lab, with some training rounds conducted recently. The PFL Charlotte headliner had a post on Instagram talking about how Bendo put a spiritual ass-whooping on Battle.

When asking for his thoughts on the PFL Brussels fight that Henderson had, and if that belies whether or not he has the ability to keep embarking on his storied MMA journey, Battle said [via Bowks Talking Bouts],

“Well, I know just talking to him, it was just something where he considers himself a retired fighter. You know what I’m saying? He considers himself retired fighter and it was just something where he liked the fight, he liked the opportunity.”

Bryan Battle contemplates what could get benson henderson back into the cage again

Further delving into Bendo’s situation within competitive mixed martial arts, Bryan Battle continued [via Bowks Talking Bouts],

“So I think Benson’s in a place where it’s like physically speaking, I mean you can look at him, physically speaking, he’s still in great shape. He’s still very active in the gym. So I think now he’s in a place where if you give him a fight that he’s genuinely interested in, you pay him enough money to do it, you could have him coming out to do a fight, but he’s not just fighting just to fight. You know what I’m saying? I think it more so has to be an interesting fight for him. You know what I mean?”
