Conor McGregor has 2 fights left on his UFC deal, and according to the Irishman, his last fight is in April 2027. McGregor revealed the aforementioned information to Ariel Helwani last month.
Max Holloway, who is going to lock horns with the Irishman this weekend at UFC 329, meanwhile has big plans. Holloway plans to finish Conor McGregor in their rematch, believing “The Notorious” will then seek redemption in a trilogy fight. During an exclusive interview with Stake, “Blessed” said:
“I hope not [this is not Conor McGregor’s last bout]. You know, when Conor McGregor is with the sport, and especially in a good light, it’s great for the sport, you know? So, if I go out there, get my hand raised, we see what happens, you know? I hope not. I mean, if we go out there and I get a finish, I would technically be 1 and 0 over him, because in his book, he said he only counts finishes on his records and not decisions, so I would actually have 1 and 0 over him. That’d probably eat him alive, so we’d probably have to have a rematch, which would be great.”
Conor McGregor and Max Holloway’s first meeting came in 2013 at featherweight, where the Irishman secured a unanimous decision win in the three-rounder, despite tearing his ACL. This time, the two will run it back at welterweight in a five-round main event at UFC 329.
As “The Notorious” returns to the octagon this weekend after five years away, he plans to ‘son’ Max Holloway again before pursuing either lightweight champion Justin Gaethje or a third UFC belt against welterweight champion Islam Makhachev.
However, “Blessed” plans on ruining McGregor’s pursuit of three-division glory or reclaiming the 155-pound strap.
Max Holloway on who he will call out if he wins at UFC 329
After Max Holloway was knocked out by Ilia Topuria in 2024, the former made a permanent move up to 155 pounds.
He then defended his BMF title against Dustin Poirier, earned a dominant unanimous decision victory, after which he called out then-lightweight champion Topuria for a rematch, this time at 155-pounds.
Now, Holloway plans to call out Justin Gaethje for a rematch if he gets his hand raised at UFC 329. During the same exclusive interview with Stake, the Hawaiian added:
“If I do the job the way I want to do my job and get the job done, for sure I’d call [Justin Gaethje] out. You know, people are already talking about how the winner of this fight gets the fight for that title, and then how the winner of this fight also might be able to fight for the 170 title. Who knows, you know? So, at the end of the day, I just got to go out there and get the job done. I get the job done when the emotion’s in me; we see who I call out, you know? Fighting for the 155 title fight after this one would be nice, I would say.”
Gaethje most recently dismantled and dethroned “El Matador” at UFC Freedom 250. The Highlight” believes his win over Topuria helped him get over the UFC 300 brutal last-second knockout loss to Max Holloway.
