Whilst much of the focus has already been on incomings at Rangers this summer, they’ve still got plenty of work to do if they want to win the Scottish Premiership next season.

It may not be too long before a midfielder reaches the top of their to-do list, either, amid concerns that Nicolas Raskin could be heading for the exit door.

The Belgian’s departure is a very real possibility, so much so that Ibrox chiefs are already in talks to sign Tromso’s Jens Hjerto-Dahl.

Football FanCast’s Verdict

Credibility

It’s not the first time that Rangers have targeted Hjerto-Dahl. This time, though, they seem determined to make a deal happen and have already submitted one offer, with another expected amid talks with Tromso.

Finances

It’s currently unclear how much Rangers’ first offer was worth, but it wasn’t enough to secure Hjerto-Dahl’s signature. His side seem intent on selling for the right price, with the ball still very much in their court.

Insight

The midfielder would be an excellent replacement for Raskin this summer, having been involved in seven goals in just 13 games in Norway this season. He could even become an upgrade by reaching his full potential at Ibrox.

Impact

The arrival of Hjerto-Dahl would surely signal the end of Raskin’s Rangers career, with a number of Premier League clubs already eyeing his signature this summer.

Hjerto-Dahl would ease arguably the biggest concern for McInnes at Rangers, but they’ve got to match Tromso’s valuation before a deal can take place.

Rangers launch offer to sign Hjerto-Dahl

According to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, Rangers launched an opening offer to sign Hjerto-Dahl, only to see that offer rejected by Tromso. They’re now readying a second bid ahead of plans to accelerate towards the midfielder’s arrival.

“There are reports in Norway claiming that a bid has been rejected by Tromso for Hjerto-Dahl from Rangers. That interest will firm up, and I would imagine that if there’s any indication that Tromso are willing to sell, Rangers will be right there trying to get a deal done for the midfielder as well.” – O’Rourke

It would be one of their most satisfying transfers yet if the 49ers welcomed Hjerto-Dahl, who has been on their radar at Rangers for the last 12 months.

Hjerto-Dahl would replace Raskin at Rangers

It’s a simple like-for-like swap for Rangers. Dubbed “incredible” by analyst Kai Watson, Hjerto-Dahl would replace Raskin’s attacking output and has the potential to become so much more at just 20 years old.

His goal involvements are impressive in their own right, but what should stand out for McInnes is how well Hjerto-Dahl recovers possession. The young star works tirelessly off the ball, whilst the rest comes so naturally. That in itself sums up his talent.
