Arsenal must fancy their chances of retaining the Premier League title next season, with all the pieces aligning for another successful year under Mikel Arteta’s management.
Liverpool and Manchester City are both in transition. The Reds suffered an abject title defence, and Arne Slot has been sacked, while Pep Guardiola’s dynasty has reached its end.
The Gunners have a chance here to consolidate their title-winning position, defending that belt over the next several years. Arteta and co are trying to make it happen, with grand summer transfer plans leading the Londoners down various roads.
How Arteta is creating a dynasty at Arsenal
You could convincingly argue that Arteta has already created a dynasty at Arsenal. Certainly, the Spanish coach will have left quite the legacy when he does eventually leave the club.
But there is a sense that this is only the beginning. Arsenal have finally tasted the sweet success of winning the title, and now they want more.
How, then, do the Gunners achieve such a thing? Well, Arteta is determined to add Premier League experience to his squad, and some of the best at that. Morgan Rogers and Bruno Guimaraes both sit at the top of the shortlist, the attacker and the midfielder both among the best in their positions worldwide.
Having seen two offers knocked back for Newcastle’s all-commanding captain, Arsenal now feel they are creaking toward a breakthrough. The Brazilian midfielder has intimated his desire to move to London and sign for Arsenal. Aged 28, this is his time to pursue lofty ambitions while in his prime.
Said to be “everything good about Newcastle” over the past five years by club legend Alan Shearer, Guimaraes is the ultimate all-action midfielder, and he would assist many departments at the Emirates, reinforcing their ambitions.
Aim for the stars, and why not? Arsenal have a strong skeleton from which Arteta can add prosthetics to his team. Guimaraes and Rogers and Christos Tzolis are all exciting players, but it wouldn’t hurt to try and sign a true superstar, one of the game’s very best.
Arsenal in talks to complete the signing of the summer
Arsenal need a couple of forwards this summer. Tzolis, for example, has been earmarked as the man to replace Leandro Trossard, who is set to draw down the curtain on his Emirates career and sign for Besiktas.
Replacing him will be anything but easy, so maybe Arsenal should pivot toward an alternative target.
That man, believe it or not, could be Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Junior. According to transfer insider Graeme Bailey for TEAMtalk, the Brazilian forward could leave Los Blancos, with his £500k-per-week salary demands putting him at odds with the hierarchy.
In truth, negotiations have been at a standstill for a while, and Vini Jr. has had his share of infractions pinned against him, but he is still one of the best players in the world, something he showed in vivid colour throughout his nation’s turbulent World Cup campaign.
Previous reports suggest that the attacker’s contract situation could see him available for a cut-price £77m, far below the exorbitant nine-digit sums bandied about in the past.

Ah, Vini. Undoubtedly polarising, he is a magical footballer with such quality at his feet. A maverick, the 25-year-old just knows how to make things happen, and is a true superstar of his age.

While there has been a lot of talk recently around Guimaraes, and how the Selecao star would lift Arsenal’s team next season, there’s no question that Vinicius Junior could be an even bigger star for the Gunners, having been reared onto the major stage at Real Madrid, arriving in the Spanish capital when he was only 18 years old.
All told, Vini has won two Champions Leagues and three La Liga titles with Real Madrid. Across 375 games, he has scored 128 goals and supplied 100 assists. Across each of his past five campaigns for the club, he has surpassed 20 goals in all competitions.
Guimaraes might be a formidable midfielder, but he does not have the almost ineffable superstar quality that Vini Jr. possesses. Given the issues Arsenal have had in attack of late, he might be the perfect, prolific forward to sign.
Vini Jr. would be a marquee signing and a half for Arsenal, the kind of deal that feels impossible to pull off. But the Brazilian’s contract impasse at the Santiago Bernabeu shows little sign of abating, and Arteta could lift his attack up to new ground by signing Vini, making him Arsenal’s talisman.
