With their second season back in the Premier League fast approaching, Leeds United are back in the transfer market and on the hunt for a record deal.
The Whites have already won the race to sign Harry Wilson on a free deal following the end of his contract at Fulham, but now want to splash the cash to sign Tarik Muharemovic from Sassuolo.

Credibility |
All signs are pointing towards a club-record deal for Leeds. Reports suggested earlier this week that they’re set to launch an offer on Tuesday and that time has now passed, with that offer likely with Sassuolo at this stage. Muharemovic, meanwhile, has already green-lit a move to Elland Road. |
|
Finances |
Leeds have been willing to match Sassuolo’s €45m (£34m) asking price for some time and should land Muharemovic’s signature if they’ve done that with their formal offer. Having also agreed to match the defender’s €3.5m-a-year (£3m) wage demands, this deal looks inevitable. |
|
Insight |
The defender is still just 23 years old and will play a crucial part for Daniel Farke if he completes his move in the coming weeks. Standing at 6’2, Muharemovic would be an ideal replacement for Pascal Struijk, who left for Brighton earlier this summer. |
|
Impact |
Muharemovic’s arrival could end Leeds’ search for a defender and allow them to strengthen in other areas ahead of a crucial Premier League campaign. |
There’s been threats of a hijack from Sunderland, but those rumours should be put to bed now that Leeds are advancing towards a deal for their top target.
Leeds table club-record offer to sign Muharemovic
As reported by Italian journalist Luca Cerchione, Leeds tabled an offer to sign Muharemovic on Tuesday and have already agreed to match his wage demands worth €3.5m-a-year (£3m).
The defender has already green-lit a move to Elland Road over Sunderland and Bournemouth in a major boost for the Yorkshire club.

Whilst the value of their offer remains unknown, previous reports claimed that they’ve got no problem matching Sassuolo’s €45m (£39m) asking price, which would break their transfer record.
Leeds are right to go all out for Muharemovic
After enjoying so much success in a back five last season, Leeds entered the summer transfer window in need of an additional centre-back. Those problems then increased when Struijk decided to leave. So, Muharemovic makes perfect sense.
The towering defender still has plenty of potential at just 23 years old and could quickly become an upgrade on Struijk, leading Daniel Farke‘s backline from the get-go.
Ahead of their second season back in the Premier League, Leeds had to make a statement to suggest they want more than just survival. So far, the addition of Wilson and the likely arrival of Muharemovic is doing exactly that.
