Bryce Mitchell has returned to the podcast microphone with another head-turning analogy, this time casting modern Christians as Jedi Knights fighting evil through the Holy Spirit. The UFC bantamweight is fresh from a submission win over Santiago Luna and is scheduled to face Mikey Musumeci in a UFC BJJ match on September 24.

Bryce Mitchell Explains How Christianity Is Basically The Force From Star Wars

Speaking on his Arkansanity Podcast, Mitchell said: “The modern Christian they gotta see themselves like a Jedi. Because seriously, what it does to your will, your belief, your motivation. It is a power to have the holy spirit. In the movie Star Wars, you know they say ‘let the force be with you’, it’s the same thing. It’s the force of the holy spirit, and you will be like a Jedi, fighting evil.”

That is Bryce Mitchell in one quote. Christianity, Star Wars, spiritual warfare and a big claim delivered with total conviction. His point appears to be that faith gives Christians direction and resolve, much like “the Force” gives Jedi their connection and purpose in George Lucas’ galaxy. The difference, of course, is that the Jedi do not usually end up debating flat Earth theory on a fight podcast.

Mitchell has built a reputation as one of the UFC’s most unpredictable talkers. In January 2025, he drew global backlash after praising Adolf Hitler, denying the Holocaust and making antisemitic, homophobic and transphobic comments on his podcast. UFC CEO Dana White called the remarks “beyond disgusting,” though the promotion did not discipline Mitchell.

Mitchell later apologized, saying he did not intend to offend people, acknowledged that people died in the Holocaust and said he did not support Hitler’s actions. The Arkansas fighter has also publicly pushed flat-Earth claims, rejected the concept of gravity, alleged that mass shootings are staged to advance gun confiscation, and claimed COVID-19 was created and released by the U.S. government.

Away from the mic, Mitchell’s career is moving in a useful direction. The 31-year-old is 19-3 as a professional and has gone 2-0 since dropping to bantamweight. At UFC Fight Night 278 on June 6, he controlled Santiago Luna for more than nine minutes before squeezing out an arm-triangle choke at 4:52 of Round 3, handing Luna his first professional defeat.

Next comes a very different assignment. Mitchell will meet five-time IBJJF world champion and reigning UFC BJJ bantamweight titleholder Mikey Musumeci in a featherweight submission-grappling superfight at UFC BJJ 11 on September 24. Musumeci’s 135-pound belt will not be on the line, but Mitchell becomes the first active UFC fighter booked against a UFC BJJ champion.

Mitchell has even said he will not watch Musumeci’s grappling because he considers it “gay,” while still pursuing a match with one of the sport’s most accomplished specialists. So yes: Jedi theology is apparently just the latest chapter before “Thug Nasty” tries to grapple one of the best submission artists on the planet.
