Spurs ready to make move to sign £101m star

If Tottenham Hotspur are able to seal the signing of Eli Junior Kroupi it would be the crowning moment of what has been a truly spectacular summer for the Lilywhites.

From nearly being relegated, ENIC and Roberto De Zerbi have come together in a bid to ensure that never happens again. Spurs are too big of a club to find themselves as the foot of the table.

Instead, they have designs on being at the top end with £185m spent on Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali at the beginning of July.

Since then, things have quietened down at Spurs but they are still working hard to improve the squad. Kroup is a leading target and would be a cracking addition.

Why Spurs want to replace Solanke with Kroupi

Charged with replacing Harry Kane, it was never going to be easy for Dominic Solanke to become a fan favourite at Spurs.

Still, in 2024/25, he did have a productive first season in London after making the move from the same club as Kroupi, Bournemouth. That term the Englishman scored 16 goals in 45 outings across all competitions.

2025/26, however, was a struggle for the striker. Who didn’t struggle in Spurs colours last term?

Solanke missed over 20 games through injury and only scored six goals. You cannot blame the injuries on him but even when he did feature, the centre-forward was hardly convincing with his overall play.

Still, at least we’ll always have that scorpion kick goal to remember him by.

In Kroupi, they could sign a red hot replacement. Valued at £90m and allegedly keen on making the move to play under De Zerbi, the Frenchman is one of the most exciting young strkers around.

Now 20, he only joined the Cherries a year ago and hit the ground running in remarkable fashion. No teenager has ever scored more goals (13) than he has in their debut Premier League season. He’s already up there alongside some of the greats.

Full of pace, clinical in front of goal, an elite ball manipulator and versatile, it’s easy to see why not just Spurs but also Arsenal are interesting in signing him this summer.

Still, there could be an even more exciting addition lying in wait between now and the end of August.

How Spurs can further improve their attack

Signing a new striker this summer makes sense, particularly given the last year that Solanke has endured. However, landing a winger is even more of a necessity for De Zerbi.

The Londoners are trying to get one or two across the line. Talks are ongoing to land Savinho from Manchester City while they have also held early discussions with Benfica regarding Norway sensation Andreas Schjelderup.

WIth their canny ball skills, trickery and masterfull ball carrying, they would be brilliant additions but not quite as good as a certain Yan Diomande, a player who joins Kroupi in being recognised as one of the best young talents in Europe right now.

The latter had a brilliant season in the Premier League but Diomande has been generating even more fuss across Europe, subsequently attracting the interest of PSG, Liverpool, Arsenal and now Spurs according to TEAMtalk. They note that if his preferred move to Paris falls through, Tottenham are ready and waiting to make their own move.

Valued at upwards of £101m, the Lilywhites could break their transfer record again this summer but it would certainly be worth it. After all, he is arguably even more exciting than Kroupi.

Hailed as a “generational talent” by European football expert Bence Bocsák, the Ivorian was one of the most electrifying wingers in Europe’s top five leagues last season, not just scoring 13 goals and registering ten assists but ranking incredibly highly for carrying and dribbling.

In 2025/26, the 19-year-old ranked among the top 1% of wingers in Europe’s top five leagues for productive dribbles and successful dribbles per 90 minutes while also sitting among the best 3% for progressive carries and shot-ending carries per 90. To put it simply, Diomande is one of the most dangerous wingers around and he’s got the end product to boot.

He further ranks among the best 3% for ‘final product’ and the top 4% for overall ball progression. Give the ball to the teenager and expect things to happen.

Kroupi is very much exciting in his own right but he’s not quite got the ball skills or carrying ability to match Diomande. Watching him in full flow is like watching Gareth Bale in his prime. The speed, the forceful and aggressive nature of his running is scintillating.
