Nottingham Forest have made an offer for Union SG star Anan Khalaili, following his failed move to Inter Milan.
Khalaili was expected to move to the San Siro, but he failed his medical, which means a move elsewhere could be on the cards this summer, and it is no surprise Forest have entered the race for his signature.
The 21-year-old, who primarily operates as a right-wing back, excelled in last season’s Champions League, scoring three goals in eight appearances.
In the Jupiler Pro League, the youngster also excelled from an attacking point of view, creating 14 big chances across the season, which was four more than any other member of the Union SG squad.
Guy Boganim, who coached the Israel international at Maccabi Haifa, has also praised him for his attacking qualities and attitude, saying: “He trained with me for almost a year, he’s a kid who never gives up, always the first to come to training and the last to leave.
“Mentally, he’s very strong. He’s improved his offensive game a lot, and in the last year you can see his numbers. A real winner.”
Considering new manager Oliver Glasner prefers to use a three-at-the-back system, it would be savvy for Forest to improve their options at wing-back this summer, and they are now in contention to sign the Union SG man.
Nottingham Forest make offer for Anan Khalaili
According to a report from The Athletic, Nottingham Forest have now made a €20m (£17m) offer for Khalaili, which was knocked back by the Belgian side.
The Israeli wing-back is being targeted as a potential alternative to Feyenoord star Givairo Read, but it will take a much higher fee to tempt Union SG into a sale, considering Inter were willing to fork out €28m (£24m).
Givairo Read keen on Nottingham Forest move
As revealed by Fabrizio Romano, Forest have already made an approach to sign Read, and the right-back is keen on a move to the City Ground.
At 20-years-old, the Feyenoord defender is a similar age to Khalaili, and there are some indications he could be a stronger addition to Glasner’s squad.

Should Nottingham Forest be able to sign Read for around €21m (£18m), he would be a cheaper addition than Khalaili, and he is a similar type of player, having amassed five goals and 11 assists in 54 games for Feyenoord. However, the Amsterdam-born defender missed 25 games due to injury last season, which isn’t a good sign at this stage of his career. |

Despite often finding himself behind Thierno Barry in the pecking order, the Guinea-Bissau international scored nine Premier League goals for the Toffees last season, and grabbed one assist.
