A quiet summer transfer window is threatening to explode into life at the Stadium of Light, with Sunderland swiftly turning their attention towards Geny Catamo.
The Sporting CP winger is one to watch, as the Black Cats look to welcome just their second addition of the window. With rumours that Simon Adingra could be heading for the exit door too, it should come as no surprise that Catamo has been lined up.

In one move, Sunderland could replace a player who often failed to get into Regis Le Bris‘ best side in favour of someone who should be at the heart of the frontline. It’s a move fit for a Europa League side.
It’s also a move that’s been overdue. Whilst Sunderland should celebrate the fact that they’ve kept hold of star players this summer, they must do better on the incoming front before the window slams shut.
That’s not to say they should be welcoming as many fresh faces as last summer, either. They’ve simply got room for additional quality like Catamo at this stage.
Sunderland in talks to sign Geny Catamo
As reported by the Sunderland Echo, Sunderland are now in talks to sign Geny Catamo from Sporting. Negotiations are underway and whilst the Black Cats are expecting a cheaper deal than his release clause, the €60m (£51m) option is there if they need it.
Catamo, still just 25 years old, can play on both flanks and as a wing-back. With European football awaiting, that versatility will be key.
Alongside the likes of Brian Brobbey, there’s every chance that the winger thrives in the Premier League. With talks ongoing, everyone involved on Wearside will be looking to make a breakthrough as soon as possible.
Sunderland make Wilson Isidor decision
Earlier this summer, it was Granit Xhaka who could have been heading for the exit door. Now, WIlson Isidor‘s name is in the headlines. Like Xhaka, however, the forward is not for sale.
After attracting interest from West Ham United, Sunderland have been forced to deliver a ‘not for sale’ message as they look to keep hold of their backup forward.
From his perspective, Isidor will be hoping to get more game time now that European football is up for offer, especially after scoring six Premier League goals last season.
