The transfer comes after the University Interscholastic League ruled Nussmeier ineligible at Ryan (Denton, Texas). Nussmeier spent his first three seasons at Marcus (Flower Mound, Texas) where he threw for 1,390 yards and 12 touchdowns against one interception last year. His transfer and subsequent appeal was denied.
Nussmeier now heads to the alma mater of NFL All-Pro wide
receiver Ja’Marr Chase at Archbishop Rummel. The Raiders went 8-5 last
year, reached the Division 1 Select state quarterfinals and start the season No. 6 in the MaxPreps state rankings.
In his career at Marcus, Nussmeier threw for 3,564 yards and 32 touchdowns with five interceptions while adding four scores on the ground.
He is the son of New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator and former NFL quarterback Doug Nussmeier. Older brother Garrett played at Marcus before a collegiate career at LSU and eventually becoming a 2026 seventh-round pick by the Kansas City Chiefs.
