Ryder Flugence is used to success on the football field. The 2029 athlete out of Boerne (Texas) Champion comes from an athletic family and, at 6-foot-5, 200 pounds, he’s always been among the largest in his age group. Blessed with size, athleticism and an older brother who also plays, Flugence consistently played up during his youth ball years competing with players two years older than him.
Flugence saw varsity action as a freshman at Champion last season, and he enters the season poised to really put his name on the map. Last season saw Flugence play defense while getting some reps at quarterback. This summer, though, his stock took off. After competing at several camps, Flugence saw the offers pile up. Schools like Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Texas Tech all joined the offer parade that started in the spring.
For Flugence, it was a lot to take in at once. Getting varsity experience is one thing, but becoming a household name in recruiting circles at the same time can be overwhelming. Flugence leaned on what he knew.
