Since ending their wait for silverware and winning the Europa League, Aston Villa have been ripped apart. The Villans have been forced to watch on as clubs launch moves to sign their biggest stars, leading to departures like Morgan Rogers and now Ezri Konsa.

This time, it’s Arsenal who are taking full advantage. The Gunners have reportedly reached an agreement to sign the England international in a deal worth just over £50m.

It’s another major blow for those in the Midlands, who have just seven players left from the team that started the Europa League final a few months ago.

It’s been a brutal summer for Unai Emery, but things could yet get even worse. Alongside Konsa, Lucas Digne, Youri Tielemans and Morgan Rogers, another key player has been tipped to leave before the end of the transfer window.

Tim Sherwood tips Martinez to join Konsa in Aston Villa exit

Speaking to Football FanCast, via NetBet Football Betting, former Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood tipped Emiliano Martinez to leave the Midlands club and join Konsa out the exit door, despite believing he is “one of the top goalkeepers in the world”.

The South American shot-stopper looked destined to join Juventus, before that move collapsed. Since then, Aston Villa have welcomed Zion Suzuki from Italian club Parma and Sherwood believes that the arrival of another goalkeeper is likely to push Martinez out this month.

“I just think the goalkeeper situation needs to be sorted, because he’s a big personality, Martinez. They’ve just signed Suzuki, so he ain’t going to come there to be number two. So Martinez will have to move. He will have to move. So wherever he goes, I wish him well, because he’s been a good servant to a great club.”

It would be another big loss for Villa’s dressing room. Whilst Suzuki will be expected to take the No.1 shirt, losing Martinez’s leadership is something that will damage Emery’s side more than anything else.

With just over a week until the window slams shut, Aston Villa’s best side has been torn apart with Martinez the next player potentially heading for the exit door.
