Schilling enters the season with 1,796 wins, narrowly ahead of Wroubel’s 1,793. Schilling has coached at Bayside Academy since 1988 while Wroubel coached from 1979-82 before returning to the sideline in 1989. They are among 22 active coaches with at least 1,000 career wins.
The two coaching legends also rank among the top four in high school volleyball history. Schilling is No. 3 all-time followed closely by Wroubel at No. 4. Both are within reach of former Michigan coach Jack Magelssen, who ranks second with 1,832 victories from 1977 to 2012. Jodi Manore of Bedford (Temperance, Mich.) remains the sport’s all-time leader with 2,231 career wins.
