MaxPreps Top 25 high school football scores: No. 10 Duncanville opens season at No. 16 Allen in MaxPreps Game of the Week

This week is loaded with big-time matchups that will heavily influence the MaxPreps Top 25 rankings. There are four MaxPreps Top 25 matchups led by No. 10 Duncanville (Texas) facing No. 16 Allen (Texas) at Eagle Stadium as the Lone Star State kicks off this week. 

This one is our MaxPreps Game of the Week and you can stream it on the NFHS Network at 7 p.m. Central time. 

The Panthers ended the Eagles season last year with a 31-9 win in the Conference 6A Division 1 semifinals. In steps Class of 2029 standout Ty Snell at quarterback as he looks to lead Allen to its first state title since 2017. Duncanville has played in six of the last eight 6A Division 1 state championship games and have the talent to make it back to AT&T Stadium in December.

Fletch Palmer, son of head coach Carson Palmer, got the start last week for Santa Margarita and threw for 242 yards and two scores. His favorite target was Class of 2030 standout Kiyan Callis, who hauled in nine receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown. Freshman linebacker Aydan Steen led the way on defense racking up 10 tackles and three sacks in a 27-0 win over Jones (Orlando, Fla.).

No. 13 Basha (Chandler, Ariz.) faces No. 23 Chandler (Ariz.) on Saturday in a rematch of last year’s Open Division state championship game. The Bears cruised to a 34-7 win to claim their second Open Division title since 2022. 

Another can’t miss game on Saturday features No. 2 St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) against DeSoto (Texas) in a matchup of defending state champs. The Raiders have won a state record seven straight state championships, while the Eagles have won three of the last four 6A Division 2 titles.
