Leeds United are now very keen on signing Ladislav Krejci, with a move away from Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer possible, according to reporter Liam Keen.
Leeds eyeing summer move for Ladislav Krejci
Leeds’ interest in signing Krejci, who is capable of playing at centre-back and in defensive midfield, comes amid Ao Tanaka facing an uncertain future at Elland Road, with Manchester United now on red alert to sign the 27-year-old.
Tanaka is pushing for an exit in the summer transfer window, having found game time difficult to come by in the Premier League since the turn of the year, although the Japanese maestro was named in the starting XI for the 3-0 victory against Wolves last time out.
The Whites moved one step closer to securing their place in the Premier League with an emphatic victory against Rob Edwards’ side, who have struggled all season, taking just 17 points from 33 matches.
Krejci being a part of a team that has performed so poorly may raise some alarm bells, but he has been lauded by Jacek Kulig in the past, who described him as “very dominant in the air”, with the scout also comparing him to Sunderland star Granit Xhaka.
Much like Xhaka, the Czechia international excels at tackling, and he is impressive in possession of the ball to boot, averaging 42.9 accurate passes per 90 in the Premier League this season, which is the highest number in the Wolves squad.
With the Old Gold destined to be playing in the Championship next season, however, a move to a Premier League side could appeal this summer, and Leeds have now expressed a strong interest in securing the defender’s signature.
That is according to reporter Liam Keen, who took to X to reveal the Whites are very keen on signing the 26-year-old, with a move away from Elland Road now possible in the summer transfer window.
That is despite the fact the Rosice-born star only signed for Wolves last summer, joining from La Liga side Girona on an initial loan deal, although he is set to sign on a permanent basis for £26m.
James Justin eyeing Europe with Leeds on course to survive
Not only are Leeds now in a very strong position to avoid the drop, having moved eight points clear of Tottenham Hotspur, but James Justin is also eyeing Europe via an FA Cup triumph.
After the victory against Wolves, Justin said: “You never know what will happen. (The FA Cup) is an outside chance of getting Europe. To get back in Europe for this club will be massive, but we have to get past Chelsea next weekend before we think about that.
“Obviously with the win (against Wolves), it gives us a nice cushion, but I think we might need another win to keep us safe.”
