Alasdair Gold has claimed Conor Gallagher had his “best” game in a Tottenham Hotspur shirt in the 2-2 draw against Brighton on Saturday.
Premier League relegation battle could go down to wire
Tottenham were held to a draw against the Seagulls in heartbreaking fashion, with Georginio Rutter bagging a 95th minute equaliser, but fortunately, they haven’t been cut adrift in the Premier League relegation battle.
West Ham United played out a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday, which leaves Spurs within touching distance of Nuno’s side, given that they remain just two points behind.
If ever there was a must-win game, the Lilywhites’ upcoming trip to Molineux to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers fits the bill, as they will have the opportunity to overtake West Ham, should the Irons fail to take all three points against Europe-chasing Everton.
Although Roberto De Zerbi‘s side were unable to get over the line against the Seagulls, the performance was more encouraging, with the manager claiming they deserved to take all three points from the game.
Gallagher, who earns a whopping £200k-a-week at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, has received plenty of criticism since arriving from Atletico Madrid in January, with Gold slamming his display in the 1-0 defeat against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light earlier this month.
However, the journalist was very impressed by the Englishman’s performance against Brighton last time out, saying: “I felt Conor Gallagher probably had his best game in his Spurs shirt thus far. I think a lot of the role that he had in the team allowed him to do what he does well, which is high-energy, which is pressing, which is trying to work further up the pitch.
“And he actually had kind of a reasonable chance at one point, and he was winning the ball back in good places, stopping attacks.”
Conor Gallagher’s key statistics vs Brighton

Tottenham’s record at Molineux
De Zerbi will be hoping the 26-year-old picks up from where he left off against Wolves at the weekend, as the manager may not have a better chance to get points on the board, with the Old Gold’s relegation being confirmed after West Ham drew with Palace on Monday night.
Deal agreed: Tottenham set to sign £160,000-a-week Premier League star for De Zerbi
The Lilywhites have an agreement on “everything”, says Romano.
Rob Edwards’ side are winless in their last three Premier League matches, but Molineux hasn’t exactly been a happy hunting ground for Spurs, having won just one of their last five league games at the stadium, and they have lost their last three on the bounce.
