The Notre Dame Fighting Irish just recovered from recently losing a safety on the 2027 recruiting trail.

That deflection seems to have made way for another recruit, though, and the Fighting Irish have to feel like they’re back to whole as a result.

On Monday, the Fighting Irish lost a commitment from four-star safety Khalil Terry from Tustin, California. Terry seems likely to be headed for a college on the left coast.

Notre Dame and head coach Marcus Freeman have picked a safety right back up, though.

On Wednesday, it was announced that John Gay III, a three-star safety prospect from Hollywood, Florida, committed to the Fighting Irish.

The Florida Gators, Ole Miss Rebels and Syracuse Orange were also in the running.
