Nashville (Tenn.) Battle Ground Academy class of 2029 receiver Maddox Porter first hit my radar as an 8th grader. The 6-2, 175-pounder was working out at The Sevens 7-on-7 event in the Spring 2025 outside of Atlanta, and he was making big plays before entering high school. I made it clear that Porter was going to be a force in the coming years.
Fast forward less than a year later, and Porter, who picked up offers from Kentucky and Nebraska a few months prior to that event, now holds just about every major offer in the country. It shouldn’t come as a surprise after what he did as a freshman. This season, he put on a shot.
As a freshman, Porter hauled in 78 catches for 1,547 yards and 27 touchdown receptions, as BGA won a state championship. In that state title game, he had 9 catches for 152 yards and a score. He was named the MaxPreps Freshman of the Year.
So, where do things stand on the recruiting front? Porter, as noted above, has offers from everyone. On Feb. 27, he picked up an offer from Oregon. Earlier this month, he made his way to Eugene to meet with head coach Dan Lanning and see what the Ducks have to offer.
Here is what he told 247Sports.
