Fosun are wasting no time as we approach the summer transfer window, with Wolverhampton Wanderers recently opening talks to sign an “unbelievable” Premier League star.

Rob Edwards set to reshape Wolves’ squad this summer

Wolves’ relegation to the Championship has been set in stone for quite some time, having endured a dismal campaign, with Rob Edwards becoming manager in November, after Vitor Pereira took just two points from the opening ten Premier League matches.

The 43-year-old has been unable to instigate a major uptick in results, and his side are still rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table, with just one game left to play.

Edwards has now admitted he is set to reshape his squad significantly in the upcoming window. When asked whether he had given up on some players after the 3-0 defeat at Brighton, the manager said: “Yeah, definitely. Some of them have got to go, we’re bottom of the league. It’s been embarrassing. They’ve got to go.

“We’ve got two more games, so suck it up, keep our head down, take whatever we’re gonna have to take for the next couple of weeks and then we can really get to work. We know there’s going to be a lot of change.”

Changes will be required in central midfield, with Joao Gomes closing in on a move to Atletico Madrid, while Fosun have also wasted no time when it comes to signing a new right-back.

Wolves open talks to sign “unbelievable” Premier League star

According to a report from talkSPORT, Wolves have now opened talks to sign Newcastle United right-back Kieran Trippier, with the defender set to exit St. James’ Park upon the expiration of his contract this summer.

Trippier will be a big loss for the Magpies, according to teammate Lewis Hall, who said: “He’s going to be a massive miss. He’s obviously an incredible player and an incredible person. The way he helps everyone off the pitch is unbelievable.

“With me playing in a different position throughout training (before Nottingham Forest last weekend), he’s given me advice, telling me different things to do. He’s been a great role model for me in learning the position at left-back. He’s an incredible person and an incredible player.”

With the 54-cap England international set to be available as a free agent, he would be a low-cost addition to Edwards’ squad, although his wage demands may be relatively high, given that he currently rakes in £120k-a-week at Newcastle.

Trippier, who is represented by the same agent as Tolu Arokodare, is vastly experienced in the Premier League, and who could forget his iconic free kick against Croatia in the semi-final of the 2018 World Cup?
