MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. — Colton Nussmeier comes from a football family. His brother Garrett Nussmeier just wrapped up his career at LSU and was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 7th of round of the 2026 draft. His mother Christi spent time as a cheerleader for the New Orleans Saints and is now the picture of a supportive football mom. His father Doug played college football at Idaho before being drafted by the Saints and going on to a successful college and NFL coaching career that brought him back to New Orleans last year as offensive coordinator.

From the outside, the expectations on the Top247 Denton (Texas) Ryan passer seem to be immense. Nussmeier rose to prominence as a sophomore and picked up 22 offers before earning an invitation to the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles.

As one of just two uncommitted passers at the camp, the focus is on what Nussmeier will ultimately do. Arkansas, Georgia, and UCLA are the schools making the biggest push at the moment, but Colton has never rushed his process. For the family patriarch, the expectations have never been a life dedicated to football. Sitting on a hotel patio in 72-degree temperatures and a picturesque background before night two of the Elite 11 Finals, the family patriarch told 247Sports that his sons’ love for football came from their own desires.
