Glasgow Rangers head coach Danny Rohl appears to be in the market to add a new central midfielder to his squad in the summer transfer window.
The Light Blues have reportedly held talks with Motherwell over a deal to bring Scottish star Elliot Watt to Ibrox, after his impressive form in the 2025/26 Scottish Premiership.
Watt racked up six goals and three assists in 34 appearances in the top-flight this season, whilst completing 69 passes per game for his side.
The Scottish giants are also reportedly ready to enter talks with Sunderland central midfielder Dan Neil, whose contract is due to expire at the end of next month.
He just won promotion to the Premier League on loan with Ipswich Town, and is now set to become a free agent ahead of the summer window.
Rangers in the race to sign Hungrian central midfielder
Whilst Watt, who is a Premiership proven talent, and Neil, who has won promotion from the Championship two times, are both potentially excellent additions to the squad, Rangers are looking far and wide for midfield recruits.
In fact, the Ibrox giants are now said to be looking at a player who could arrive in Glasgow as an even better option than the Motherwell and Sunderland stars.
According to GOAL, Glasgow Rangers are one of the clubs eyeing up a deal to sign ETO FC central midfielder Milan Vitalis in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The report claims that the Light Blues have a serious interest in bringing the Hungarian star over to Ibrox to bolster their options in the middle of the park.
It adds, though, that Celtic and Aberdeen also want to bring him over to Scotland and will provide big competition for his signature in the coming weeks.
GOAL reveals that the Hoops, who could have Champions League football to offer him, are currently leading the race for Vitalis, but it remains to be seen how much ETO FC are set to demand for his services.
Why Rangers should sign Milan Vitalis ahead of Elliot Watt and Dan Neil
Rohl must push the Rangers board to strike a deal for the Hungarian star before Celtic can get a transfer over the line, because he could be an even better signing than Watt or Neil.
The Sunderland midfielder looks the weakest of the three on paper, as he only started eight games on loan at Ipswich and failed to produce any goals or assists for his side.
Vitalis’ form in the 2025/26 campaign suggests that he could have even more to offer than Watt, despite the Scottish star’s impressive form for Motherwell in the Premiership.

The 24-year-old star, who is also two years younger than Watt, produced seven more goals and ‘big chances’ created combined, which suggests that he could carry a greater threat at the top end of the pitch.
Vitalis’ defensive statistics are also similar to the Scottish star’s, suggesting there is not a great difference between their work out of possession, although he is more effective at winning aerial duels.
The Hungarian magician, who was hailed as “incredible” by RangersJournal creator Kai Watson, could be even better than Watt because of their similar defensive output and his superior offensive numbers as a central midfielder.
If he can adapt to the Premiership, Vitalis could offer more to the team overall with his qualities in and out of possession, whilst also having more long-term potential at Ibrox as a 24-year-old talent.
The Hungary international also scored two goals and provided one assist, whilst making 2.7 tackles and interceptions per game, in the first half of the 2024/25 campaign with Slovakian side FC DAC-Slovan.
He has racked up 25 goals and 25 assists in 220 appearances in all competitions throughout his career and could provide Rangers with a consistent threat as both a scorer and a creator of goals from midfield.
Meanwhile, this season was the first campaign that Watt scored more than three goals in his career, which means that the club would be taking a risk on his form not being a flash in the pan.
Overall, making a move for Vitalis ahead of Celtic could be a smart move by the Gers because he looks like he could be an even better signing than the club’s other two targets in midfield.
