Blake Jenkins is ready to announce his commitment. The Top247 cornerback from Katy (Texas) Tompkins holds more than 30 offers from some of college football’s biggest programs and will share his decision Thursday at 8 p.m. ET during a live broadcast with 247Sports on the CBS Sports College Football YouTube channel.
The 6-foot-1 1/2, 185-pounder is the No. 230 overall prospect and No. 30 cornerback nationally in addition to being the No. 38 player in Texas.
Alabama, Michigan, Texas, SMU and Vanderbilt are Jenkins’ finalists.
So far, he’s been on official visits to SMU and Vanderbilt. However, he ended his recruitment before visits concluded.
Jenkins entered the scene last summer after strong performances on the college camp circuit, and he backed it up at the Texas state 7-on-7 championships.
As a junior, Jenkins accounted for 26 tackles and two interceptions for Tompkins.

– Natural man corner with size and athleticism to match up with outside targets.
– Willing tackler with a lean, wiry frame that can add mass to enhance finishing strength.
– Attacks the screen game.
– Displays sudden athleticism in press situations, whether covering short-to-intermediate routes or turning and running downfield.
– Ideally would see more ball production, but capable of finding the ball in the deep third.
– Frame, athleticism and technique excel in press coverage, but room to improve awareness in off and zone situations.
– Forward-playing conviction versus perimeter run and screen games can periodically cause some less-than-ideal pursuit angles.
– Live evaluations have been strong in multiple scenarios.
– P4-caliber corner prospect who owns the potential to become an island technician.
