St. Louis (Mo.) Ladue Horton Watkins three-star cornerback Evan Via is the newest commit for the Stanford Cardinal. The 5-11, 175-pounder, who 247Sports ranks as the No. 42 cornerback in the class of 2027 and No. 7 player in his home state, chose to play for head coach Tavita Pritchard over offers from Notre Dame, Missouri, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and many others.
Behind the scenes, this recruitment was an interesting one to track. There were points where Missouri felt optimistic. There was a moment where Wisconsin felt as though it had an edge. Notre Dame saw enough of an opening to extend an offer this week. However, in the end, everything that Stanford entails, both on and off the field, led Via toward his pledge to play ball in Palo Alto, Calif.
Ahead of his public commitment, Via spoke with 247Sports about his decision to commit to Stanford.
