Thompson’s decision marks another significant recruiting win for Calipari, who has built a reputation as one of college basketball’s premier talent evaluators and developers. Arkansas made Thompson a priority throughout the recruiting process and ultimately beat out a strong group of contenders for one of the nation’s most coveted prospects.

Landing a player of Thompson’s caliber gives the Razorbacks a foundational piece to build around in the 2027 cycle. As a top-25 national prospect, Thompson brings high-level talent, long-term upside, and the type of national profile that can help attract additional elite recruits to Fayetteville.

For Arkansas, the commitment signals that the program’s recruiting momentum remains strong as Calipari begins shaping the future of the Razorbacks. For Thompson, it marks the next step in a recruitment that drew attention from some of the nation’s top programs before ultimately ending with a commitment to Arkansas.

With the Razorbacks now on the board in 2027, Thompson becomes the first building block of what Arkansas hopes will be another national Top 10 recruiting class.

247Sports national analyst Travis Branham provided the following scouting report on Thompson.

A skilled, dynamic left-handed guard, Thompson ranks among the cycle’s top scorers and playmakers. He is a prolific 3-point shooter off the catch and pull, with deep range and the ability to use his gravity to collapse defenses, attack off the dribble, and finish inside or create for teammates.

Through seven Nike EYBL games with MeanStreets this spring, Thompson has averaged 21.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists while shooting 51.9% from 3 on 7.7 attempts per game. His talent and feel for the game project him to be a highly impactful college guard, possessing a high floor.
