One of the nation’s top prospects is officially off the board. Davion Thompson, the class of 2027‘s No. 21 overall prospect, announced his Arkansas commitment during Wednesday’s live announcement on CBS Sports HQ and the CBS Sports College Basketball YouTube channel. The cycle’s No. 5 point guard chose the Razorbacks over fellow finalists Baylor, Michigan and Vanderbilt.
The commitment gives John Calipari and Arkansas their first pledge in the 2027 class and continues the momentum surrounding the program following a 2026 recruiting haul that featured a handful of five-star prospects.
Thompson’s decision marks another significant recruiting win for Calipari, who has built a reputation as one of college basketball’s premier talent evaluators and developers. Arkansas made Thompson a priority throughout the recruiting process and ultimately beat out a strong group of contenders for one of the nation’s most coveted prospects.
