The Top247 rankings got a much-needed update Wednesday with one of the more notable developments featuring two tight ends, LSU commit Ahmad Hudson and Georgia commit Jaxon Dollar, in the 2027 cycle’s first 32-player five-star field.
Only one time previously in the 247Sports era, which dates back to 2012, have multiple tight ends finished with five-star status (2020), but times are changing at the position. Not only were 22 tight ends selected in the 2026 NFL Draft but, as CBS Sports‘ Tom Fornelli recently noted, colleges are using 12 and 13 personnel more and more.
In a cyclical and ever-changing landscape, the pendulum is sure to swing back the other direction. Even so, the position will retain its value when such a time does come.
For now, let’s enjoy the tight end revolution and put this group of rising seniors under the microscope.
