The Saudi PIF have brought huge investment to Newcastle United over the last four years, but more importantly, have installed a winning mentality into the fanbase.

Such funds played a huge part in Eddie Howe’s side claiming Carabao Cup glory over Liverpool during 2024/25 – subsequently ending the Magpies’ 70-year wait for a trophy.

However, last season was a year to forget for the club, as the 12th-placed finish signalled a huge decline from the year prior and resulted in no European football for 2026/27.

This summer presents a huge opportunity for Howe and the hierarchy to fine-tune the squad and mount a push for a return to the top eight during the next campaign.

Despite the transfer window not opening until tomorrow, numerous agreements appear to be in place to secure multiple exciting and promising young talents.

Newcastle reach agreement to sign young attacking star this summer

Various areas of the Newcastle senior squad have been in desperate need of investment in recent months – but none more so than the goalkeeping department.

The signing of French youngster Ewan Jaouen has already been confirmed in the last few days, with the shot-stopper penning a five-year contract at St James’ Park.

A fee in the region of £20m has been forked out for the 20-year-old, but it remains to be seen if he will take the number one shirt from Nick Pope next season.

The Magpies’ spending looks set to continue during the summer months, as a move for Victor Munoz appears to be ramping up over the last couple of days.

According to Spanish outlet AS via Sport Witness, Newcastle have reached a full agreement with the player over a move to join Howe’s men ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

The report states that Real Madrid won’t trigger their buy-back clause in the attacker’s contract – handing the Tyneside outfit a free run at the 22-year-old’s signature.

A fee has yet to be agreed between Osasuna and Newcastle, but the £35m release clause in his current deal could signal an excellent piece of business.

Why Munoz would be Howe’s next Isak at Newcastle

Spending big on talents plying their trade in Spain’s top-flight hasn’t been alien to Newcastle in recent years, as seen with the £60m signing of Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad back in 2022.

The Swede was an unknown quantity to many supporters on Tyneside, but it’s safe to say he showcased his talents within the final third for the Magpies on a consistent basis.

The 26-year-old managed to find the back of the net 62 times in his 109 appearances across all competitions – with no player scoring more for the Magpies between 2022 and 2025.

However, his time at St James’ Park would come to a controversial end last summer after he handed in a transfer request before completing a £125m transfer to join Liverpool.

Despite the hatred being directed Isak’s way in recent months, the fanbase will no doubt wish they had a player of his calibre within the ranks during the recent campaign.

A move for Munoz this summer would see the Magpies land another attacking star from Spain’s top-division – albeit a wide option rather than a centre-forward.

However, his stats from the recent season in LaLiga highlight his quality, with the youngster able to make himself a fan-favourite upon any move to Tyneside in the weeks ahead.

Munoz, who’s been dubbed “outstanding” by one analyst, registered a 38% shot on target accuracy rate, whilst notching 1.2 shots on target per 90 in his 34 league outings.

The aforementioned tallies highlight his superb ability in front of goal – and an area in which Isak made a name for himself during his own time at St James’ Park.

The Spaniard’s tally of 2.5 successful dribbles per 90 also demonstrates his ability to glide past the opposition – often putting the finishing touches on his mazy runs.

His threat to the opposition defenders simply can’t be understated, subsequently resulting in him drawing a whole host of fouls – as seen by his tally of 1.8 fouls won per 90.

The agreement between the player and the Magpies is undoubtedly a huge step to completing any transfer, but a transfer fee desperately needs to be agreed between the two clubs.

The rumoured £35m release clause could prove to be an excellent piece of business for a 22-year-old star who has bags of potential to fulfill in the years ahead.

Should he get anywhere near the levels of Isak on Tyneside, it would be a deal which could catapult Howe’s men up the table – whilst having the chance to make a hefty profit in the near future.
