Kameron Mercer, who was most recently ranked No. 16 overall in the national class of 2028, has committed to Cincinnati and reclassified to 2027.
Mercer has been a celebrated prospect for some time now, even gaining notoriety before even reaching high school. He’s been ranked among the top 20 in his class since the 2028 rankings debuted and had previously taken unofficial visits to places like Kentucky, Louisville and Ohio State.
His pledge is especially significant for first-year coach Jerrod Calhoun, because it illustrates his commitment to keeping the top local prospects close to home and breaking a trend that has plagued the Bearcats program in recent history.
Additionally, Mercer is the highest rated player to ever commit to Calhoun, who previously landed multiple nationally ranked recruits at Utah State.
Below is a breakdown of Mercer’s game and fit with the Bearcats.
