Tottenham have rapidly become one of the biggest stories of the transfer window following a series of ambitious moves under Roberto De Zerbi.
The north London club recently secured their third major deal of the summer by agreeing a £52 million move for Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke.
Van Hecke’s arrival follows the earlier captures of Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi.
Together, those signings represent a significant defensive overhaul as De Zerbi begins shaping the squad in his own image.

However, Tottenham’s attention has already shifted towards what could become an even bigger transfer.
According to Fabrizio Romano this week, Spurs are now expected to open formal club-to-club talks with Newcastle over Sandro Tonali, with the Italian midfielder now one of De Zerbi’s priority targets.
Reports suggest Tonali is interested in the possibility of joining Tottenham and is open to working under his fellow countryman, who is also from Brescia.
That development alone has given Spurs supporters genuine hope that a deal could be possible.

Spurs are not slowing down.
Now, fresh information from Alfredo Pedulla has added another fascinating twist to the story.
Tottenham ready to pay Newcastle asking price for Sandro Tonali
The Italian journalist claims Tottenham are prepared to meet Newcastle’s enormous valuation of the midfielder.
According to his report, Spurs are willing to pay a fee in excess of £100 million in order to secure Tonali’s signature.
That figure would comfortably rank among the largest deals in Premier League history, and absolutely smash the club’s own transfer record.
It would also represent one of the most significant signings Tottenham have ever completed.
Pedulla suggests De Zerbi’s relationship with Tonali is playing a crucial role behind the scenes.
The pair are believed to have a strong connection, with De Zerbi and Tonali’s ‘direct’ rapport helping Tottenham’s efforts to position themselves at the front of the queue.
Tonali is widely regarded as one of English football’s elite midfielders.
Since arriving at Newcastle, he has established himself as a central figure in Eddie Howe’s side, and his technical quality, intelligence and ability to influence matches have made him one of the Premier League’s standout performers.
Few midfielders combine defensive work, ball progression and composure under pressure quite as effectively.
That complete skill set is exactly why De Zerbi sees him as such an important target, and it explains why Newcastle’s asking price has remained so high.
The club know they are negotiating from a position of strength, with the 26-year-old tied down to a £150,000-per-week contract until 2029 with the option of another 12 months (Sky Sports).
Yet, Pedulla’s report suggests Tottenham are prepared to test that resolve with an eye-watering nine-figure bid.
