Arsenal‘s summer transfer activity has taken another turn with talks ongoing to sign another player.

The club are also continuing to invest heavily in the next generation of talent, and that was highlighted again by their pursuit of Leicester City teenager Jeremy Monga.

The highly-rated youngster is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in English football, and Arsenal are moving early in an attempt to secure his signature after submitting an opening bid.

However, that first offer was reportedly rejected as negotiations continue.

The setback has not changed Arsenal’s wider approach.

If anything, it has reinforced the determination inside the club to identify elite young players before their value explodes.

They’ve already got an offer on the table for the Leicester City star.

The recruitment department has spent years building a network designed to spot emerging talent across Europe and beyond, and that work now appears to have led them towards another exciting prospect.

According to a report from the BBC, Arsenal are in talks over a deal for Georgian wonderkid Andrea Bartishvili.

The teenager is attracting increasing attention and Arsenal have moved quickly to position themselves at the front of the queue.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta reacts

The BBC’s Sami Mokbel reports that discussions are underway regarding a pre-contract, and Arsenal will soon make an offer to the 17-year-old amid interest from Juventus and other clubs.

Bartishvili may not yet be a household name among Premier League supporters, but within scouting circles, his reputation has been growing steadily.

The Georgian youngster is viewed as one of the most promising players to emerge from his country in recent years, and those who have followed his development believe he possesses the technical quality and football intelligence needed to thrive at a high level.

Bartishvili came through the same Dinamo Tbilisi academy that produced PSG superstar Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, with talent scout Jacek Kulig branding him a ‘superb’ and ‘exciting’ talent.

The attacking midfielder has drawn comparisons to Kvaratskhelia as well, and is already playing for Georgia’s Under-21s after being fast-tracked through the country’s youth sides.

That potential has understandably caught Arsenal’s attention, but according to Mokbel, they’re not alone in the race for his signature and may need to move quickly.
