While Manchester United‘s primary objective this summer is to strengthen the midfield, they must also look at how they can bolster their offensive line.
Ederson is set to join from Atalanta, while it’s highly likely that Mateus Fernandes becomes a Manchester United player too. He would reportedly really like to join the club.
Fernandes could be joined at Old Trafford by current teammate Crysencio Summerville. The Dutchman has been flying at the World Cup and looks set to be a casualty of West Ham’s relegation to the Championship.
He and Fernandes are seemingly set on leaving the London Stadium behind while Jarrod Bowen could also be on his way out.
All that said, Summerville is not the only exciting attacker on United’s radar.
Man Utd looking towards £100m Premier League star
Reports last week outlined that Manchester United were very much interested in luring Summerville away from the east end of London.
Initial talks have occurred with West Ham and while he is not a primary target, the Dutchman would be an exciting addition, one in the same ilk as Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo a year ago.
Still, with a £50m asking price, that is money perhaps best spent on the midfield and other areas of the pitch. After all, United do already have fine options on the flanks in the aformentioned Cunha and Mbeumo.
Whether or not they push through with that move remains to be seen. Instead, they may decide it’s at centre-forward where they bolster.

Indeed, according to Caught Offside, the Red Devils have a number of strikers on their radar from Victor Osimhen to Jean-Philippe Mateta and Dusan Vlahovic.
Perhaps the most exciting attacking player on their radar is Bournemouth wonderkid Eli Junior Kroupi.
Valued as highly as £100m in some circles, United are not the only club interested. He is a leading target for Premier League champions Arsenal, while you would imagine Liverpool will come calling now they have Andoni Iraola in the dugout.
Why Kroupi would be a better signing than Summerville
If United were to get their hands on Summerville, it would certainly not go down well with their rivals across the Pennines in Leeds but for Michael Carrick and Co they will not care.
By luring the winger to Old Trafford, they would be signing an exciting winger with untapped potential. He’s a maverick, a player who can frighten the life out of defenders with his pace and trickery. He’s an exceptional dribbler too.
The former Leeds man is also a player in mighty fine form, notably scoring twice for the Netherlands during their opening World Cup games against Japan and Sweden.
However, there has always been a feeling that the 24-year-old is just a little bit inconsistent. Sure, he’s dangerous and a real livewire but there is a lack of end product there.
Albeit he was playing for a West Ham side that were relegated but he scored seven goals and provided five assists. Is that really worth £50m? In today’s market it would seem so but this is not a player who would elevate the ceiling of the squad.
Kroupi, on the other hand, really would. This would be United’s Wayne Rooney signing of the modern era.
He may not be quite as young as Rooney when he first made the move from Everton but at the age of 19, much like Wazza, Kroupi has showcased that he is one of the finest young talents in the world.
It was not long ago that GOAL celebrated him as the “next Mbappe”. Daniel Sturridge has even called him “one of the best finishers in the Premier League.”
It’s hard to dispute that. Throughout 2025/26, the Frenchman scored 13 goals. For context, no teenager has ever scored more goals in their debut Premier League campaign than Kroupi.

He really is a devastating goalscorer. Only four players in the league last season had a better conversion rate in front of goal. While Summerville has struggled for consistency, Kroupi certainly has not. Give him a chance in the box and he will usually take it.
He’s no mug against the big teams either. He scored twice against Arsenal and bagged that famous goal against Manchester City that ultiamtely saw the Gunners crowned champions.
Not just capable of finding the net, Kroupi’s all round game is improving big time. The Bournemouth star also played as something of a second striker last term, feeding off a bigger presence behind Evanilson. That means he could link-up brilliantly with Benjamin Sesko in United colours.
There is even a feeling that he could play off the left flank in a Thierry Henry-esque manner. For Lorient in 2024/25, he scored seven goals in six games from the flank. Sure, that may well have been in Ligue 2, but it shows that whatever position he plays in, he will provide end product, certainly at a more consistent rate than another attacker in Summerville.
He’s better than Ederson: Man Utd in club-to-club talks to sign £50m star
An instant upgrade on Ederson is being targeting by the Man Utd hierarchy.
