It’s no secret that Everton are after a midfielder this summer and they’ve now opened talks to sign a Premier League rival to hand David Moyes exactly that.

The Toffees have been attempting to commence their transfer business since the end of the season, with Hayden Hackney the biggest name on their radar.

Everton make offer to sign versatile attacker for David Moyes as club reply

The Toffees have reached out with a proposal.

Talks with Middlesbrough haven’t been easy, however, and with plenty of competition, the Merseyside club could be forced to turn their focus towards alternatives.

The base of Moyes’ midfield just needs that one extra name to form an impressive trio. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and James Garner are both at the peak of their powers and it showed at times last season. One more addition would take Everton to a new level in the middle of the park.

If it’s not Hackney, then there will be plenty of question marks surrounding who could arrive. Names like Marc Casado have threatened to steal the headlines on that front, but it remains to be seen whether the former Chelsea man will be willing to rejoin the Premier League so soon after leaving.

Instead of the Parma star, who would be an unpredictable addition given his mixed experiences in England, the Toffees have set their sights on someone who is undoubtedly capable of controlling a Premier League midfield.

Everton hold talks to sign Premier League rival

As reported by SportsBoom, Everton have now held talks to sign Sander Berge from Fulham this summer.

The Norwegian midfielder could green-light a move in the coming months amid the uncertainty created by Marco Silva’s departure – allowing the Toffees to come swooping in.

Whilst talks remain tentative at this stage, things can often move rapidly in the market if everything aligns. If Berge pushes for a move away from Craven Cottage, then Everton will only have the competition of Hull City to beat if they want to snap up his signature.

Dubbed the “Norwegian Gilberto Silva” by Fulham teammate Alex Iwobi, Berge certainly has a big decision to make this summer. At 28 years old, this could be his final chance to land a Premier League move and Everton are certainly an ambitious club to join at this stage.

With Hackney yet to arrive, Everton could complete their midfield with an experienced top flight alternative, who is yet to make a decision about his future in West London.
